Summer Learning Program

The Shippensburg Community Resource Coalition (SCRC) is offering the Summer Learning Program to children in Shippensburg once again this summer. It is a free program for children in kindergarten through grade 12 who live in the Shippensburg Area School District area.  The program this year focuses on environmental justice, climate change, and water within the local community. It runs from June 21st to August 6th, Monday through Friday and is located at Shippensburg Township Park on Britton road at the large pavilion. Guest speakers come and educate the kids on healthy habits, literacy, animals, and more. Field trips are taken each Friday to local State Parks, local parks, and local farms.

The Summer Learning Program includes a nutritious breakfast and lunch to youth in Shippensburg. The SCRC partnerships with the Shippensburg Area School District in order to provide these meals. Hound Packs has been providing snacks, and Toigo is donating fresh fruit and vegetables. Children are welcome to come on Monday through Thursday at the park, as the program is operating as an open meal site on those days. Breakfast is served at 8:30 am and lunch is served at 11:30 pm. Children are welcome to attend just lunch or breakfast even if not attending the entire program.
